In announcing its annual Prime Day shopping extravaganza in India, Amazon had said it would have two major surprise launches on its platform. It did not disclose other details.
And just a few days ago, it came to light that R Madhavan’s smash hit Rocket: The Nambi Effect will be broadcast from the 26th of July. It was thought to be one of two releases. And as of today, the streamer has started streaming the family comedy Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The film, which was released in theaters on June 24, is still doing well at the box office. The film has grossed over Rs 100 crore in its theatrical run so far.
JugJugg Jeeyo did well in theaters
Jug Jugg Jeeyo stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the leads, and is directed by Raj Mehta. Set in Patiala, Punjab, the film’s story is a sentimental and fun ride in a family that is going through a relationship crisis. Kiara Advani plays the role of Varun Dhawan’s wife. Maniesh Paul plays her brother while Anil Kapoor plays the Varun’s father with Neetu Kapoor as his wife. The story revolves around the characters of Varun and Anil trying to separate from their respective wives, but not approving of each other’s decisions.
“Jug Jugg Jeeyo it was a fantastic experience, all thanks to the incredible cast, crew and the love the film received from the audience,” said Varun Dhawan and added, “Playing Kuldeep Saini was challenging but fruitful. He’s a character I’ve never played before and therefore he holds a special place in my heart. The film was a box office success and I am now very happy that, starting today, viewers can enjoy Jug Jugg Jeeyo from the comfort of their homes on Amazon Prime Video.”
