Recently, we’ve had a flurry of celebrity weddings. Bollywood stars Katerina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal got married in December 2021. Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt walked around the ceremonial fire 7 times in April 2022. But none of these big fat Indian weddings was featured as a documentary about Netflix. But the marriage of ‘Lady Superstar’ Nayanthara and director Vignesh Sivan will get that recognition.
The actor-director couple got married in Chennai on the 9th of June, and even at the time of the wedding there were rumors that the celebrations would come to the Netflix platform as a kind of fun documentary. It was even suggested that director Gautham Vasudev Menon would direct the documentary. The news, however, died soon after the wedding. And there were even reports that the platform was suing the star couple for posting photos of the event on their social media. Especially the photos of the couple with bigwigs like Rajnikanth and Shah Rukh Khan, which Vignesh Sivan shared, were considered the bone of contention.
Netflix is reviewing unscripted content
But today a full stop has been put to all this speculative news with the platform officially announcing that it would be streaming its story. The Official Netflix India Twitter (opens in new tab) posted a tweet with a bunch of pictures of the couple: “These images of Nayanthara and Vignesh make us see stars 🤩✨ BRB we’re doing a happy little dance because THEY’re coming to Netflix🕺💃 it’s beyond a fairy tale!! (sic) “.
The Netflix post suggests that the documentary wouldn’t just be about their marriage, but also about the duo’s courtship and escort stories.
The IANS news agency, in a report, quoted Tanya Bami, head of series at Netflix India, as saying, “We are home to unscripted content that is fresh and compelling, and has the power to connect with audiences in India and in addition”.
“Nayanthara has been a true superstar with a career spanning nearly 20 years. With our amazing creative partners, director Gautham Vasudev Menon and Rowdy Pictures, we can’t wait for our members to finally see Nayanthara’s journey that led to this tale marriage. of fairies with Vignesh.”, added Tania.
Rowdy Pictures, for the record, is Vignesh Sivan’s film production company. It’s named after your biggest hit Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), which starred Nayanthara in the lead role — It’s during the filming of the movie that the two fell in love. Or at least that’s what the mainstream media says.
So, all the rumors that surfaced before the wedding turned out to be true. The title of the documentary and when it will be broadcast are not yet known. But since it can’t be too far away. They’re going to want it broadcast before the buzz wears off.
