A new gameplay trailer for the upcoming narrative-driven stealth game Plague Tale: Requiem has been released, and it’s as dishearteningly gross as you’d expect.
Revealed during Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, the two-minute clip shows the game’s protagonists doing the same thing they did during Plague Tale: Innocence. That is, sneaking around heavily armored soldiers rather than facing them head-on, solving puzzles, and walking across the mud-soaked ground of medieval France.
You’ll be traversing Gallic fields and forests, between infiltrated cities as you try to take the brothers Amica and Hugo to an island prophesied for safety. Things look a little more violent this time around, however, with some gruesome takedowns and fights popping up in the game’s footage.

It’s dark, bloody and decidedly miserable, just like historic medieval France. The first game gained fame through a powerful, character-driven story that didn’t let go of drudgery and despair. It looks like this sequel will follow suit as the characters continue their journey through a land filled with malevolent scoundrels.
Oh, and there are a lot of mice. A lot of them. Imagine the biggest pile of mice you’ve ever seen and add some more. This is a Prague after all, the plague and the animals that carry it are not spared.
Plague Tale: Requiem will be released later this year on Xbox Series X | S and PC. It will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
