The latest batch of games for Xbox Games Pass has been revealed, along with the list of titles that will leave the subscription service later this month.
The boss among the Xbox Game Pass games about to disappear is Hades. Greek roguelite made quite a splash when it launched in 2018 and made it onto our list of best roguelike games. It puts you in Zagreus’ shoes as he tries to escape the procedurally generated dungeons of the underworld. The game’s hack ‘n’ slash combat system won much praise, as did its characterization and illustrations of various Greek gods.
Nine other games will also be removed by the end of the month, including the space simulator Elite Dangerous, the classic point-and-click adventure Myst, and the acclaimed independent narrative What Remains of Edith Finch. The latter only takes a few hours to complete and is worth diving into if you have some free time before the end of the month.
On a blog post (opens in new tab), Microsoft says Two Point Hospital is also being kicked out. That’s sad news for anyone who discovered that Two Point Campus doesn’t offer the same chaotic enjoyment as its predecessor.
taking the break
A handful of new games have come to take its place. One is to include another Greek-inspired adventure. Immortals Fenyx Rising will be the latest Ubisoft game to be added to Game Pass, following the publisher’s partnership with Microsoft earlier this year. It’s an exaggerated version of Breath of the Wild.
The arrival of Fenyx Rising comes on the heels of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Watch Dogs 2 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Fenyx Rising will be joined by the turn-based tactics game Commandos 3, the hacking puzzler Exapunks, and the upcoming interactive film Immortality. Here are all the new games coming to Game Pass later this month.
- coffee talk (Cloud, Console and PC) – available now
- Midnight Fight Express (Cloud, Console and PC) – August 23
- Exapunks (PC) – August 25
- Opus: Echo of Starsong – Full Bloom Edition (Console and PC) – August 25
- Commands 3 – HD Remaster (Cloud, Console and PC) – August 30
- Immortality (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S) – August 30
- Fenyx Rising Immortals (Cloud, Console and PC) – August 30
- Tinykin (Console and PC) – August 30
Xbox Cloud Gaming also received a major update. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now access 16 more games through the streaming service, including Dragon Age: Origins, Star Wars: Squadrons, Chorus and TMNT Shredder’s Revenge.
Plus there’s the selection of new games announced earlier this month. Game Pass subscribers may be disappointed that they won’t be able to take Zagreus’s shoes for much longer, but they won’t be wanting games to play.
